The number on the guest list is never the number at the table. Here is the rule of thumb we use.
The ten-percent rule
Take the head count, add ten percent and round up to the next pack. Spares cover the sibling who tagged along, the teacher's aide and the one that rolls under the table.

Gift sets vs single pieces
Gift sets arrive with bags and cards, so they are best when you are short on time. Single balm or gloss tubes are cheaper per piece and work for stockings, goody bags and welcome baskets.
Labels and notes
A handwritten line on the included thank-you card is the part people remember. Write them while you watch TV the night before.
